Catching the Big Fish

In this audiobook, David Lynch shares his experiences on 'catching the big fish,' that is, grabbing hold of our ideas. 'Catching the Big Fish' also refers to staying present and open to all possibilities. He shares personal stories where things seemed to 'magically' come together, but when you really pay attention, nothing really 'magical' happened, he just stayed conscious, aware and open and went along with the possibilities presented to him. Possibilities he may have ignored if he remained fixed in an idea and was never truly present. A way to connect to our higher being, develop consciousness and awareness, and remain present and open is through Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Transcendental Meditation. David Lynch is a devoted fan and has been practicing it for many years.

Through very personal stories, Lynch shares with us his failures, heartaches, heartbreaks and triumphs as a successful artist. He also offers sound advice to all artists. The stories are inspiring because of their realness and rawness. You really get a sense of the power of belief, perseverance, meditation, staying present, connecting to our higher selves and eventually catching big fishes. Creating art and developing our spiritual selves are intimately intertwined.

I particularly like this as an audiobook because it's feels like Lynch speaking to you in your studio. Like he's actually there.

This is a must listen for all artists.
